Persona, Will, and Emotional Truth

: A layered inner landscape showing several symbolic spaces at once. In a bright upper room, one figure tries to keep a tense group calm. In an open central space, another figure performs confidently before watching silhouettes. In a quieter room below, one person holds a memory box while another studies letters and notes. Near the entrance, a protective figure stands alert. A simple path of stones connects the spaces, suggesting the steady ground created through boundaries, rest, honest conversations, and daily routines.
Inside us, different parts are trying to keep the peace, prove their worth, remember what hurt, read between the lines, and stay safe. Grounding begins when we give each one space without letting any single part take over. (Image source : Canva AI)

The Context : Behind the Mask of Harmony

We have all experienced moments of inner disconnection where the conscious self abdicates leadership.

In psychological terms, imagine what happens inside when our conscious identity becomes so terrified of friction, rejection, or losing connection that it defaults entirely to people-pleasing. It smiles, agrees, nods, and smooths over every uncomfortable edge, desperate to keep the atmosphere pleasant. But because the core self refuses to state what it genuinely wants or needs, an internal vacuum opens up.

Into that vacuum steps our defensive, performative will. Left without genuine direction from an authentic center, the ego overcompensates: it becomes loud, controlling, flamboyant, and demanding. It takes over the conversation, puts on an elaborate show of self-assurance, and craves external validation simply to convince itself that it is secure and powerful.

Yet far beneath that public performance—down in the emotional unconscious—the psyche’s deeper emotional intelligence remains completely unimpressed. It knows the display is hollow. It holds the raw, unedited memory of every boundary surrendered, every truth swallowed down, and every compromise that quietly compromised self-respect. Right beside it, our perceptive mind tracks every hidden motive and unspoken transaction, while a rigid inner defense mechanism crosses its arms at the door, terrified that dropping the armor will invite emotional collapse or subjugation.

To make things even harder, all of this is happening in a swirl of thoughts, strong feelings, and emotional intensity—with nothing solid to stand on. The psyche is not being handed an easy, automatic way to stabilize itself. If we want our insights and our connections to survive the storm, we cannot live solely in the drama of our emotions or the polish of our words; we have to build our grounding by hand—through tangible boundaries, somatic rest, honest conversations, and daily, repeatable routines.

What we experience as individuals, so does the world soul.

And this is the experience of the world soul at this time, on this New Moon Day.

The Core Archetypes of the New Moon in Libra if Misaligned during the Month Ahead

  • The Part That Wants to Keep the Peace : This is the part of us that wants everyone to get along—sometimes so much that we lose touch with what we truly want or need. It genuinely values connection and balance, but it may say yes too quickly or avoid an honest conversation simply because conflict feels uncomfortable.

  • The Part That Wants to Prove Itself : When we feel overlooked or unsure of ourselves, this part can get louder, more dramatic, or more controlling. It tries to look strong and confident on the outside because, underneath, it is afraid of not mattering.

  • The Part That Remembers What Hurt : This is the part of us that longs for real closeness, trust, and emotional honesty. It remembers the promises that were broken and the moments when safety was lost. It is not interested in pretending everything is fine; it needs to feel that trust has truly been rebuilt.

  • The Part That Reads Between the Lines : This is the observant part of the mind that notices what is not being said. It picks up on mixed messages, hidden motives, and emotional undercurrents—and would much rather hear the honest truth than a polished version of the story.

  • The Part That Stays on Guard : This protective part is deeply afraid of being controlled, dismissed, or pushed aside. It may become distant, rigid, or defensive—not because it does not care, but because it believes that lowering its guard could leave it exposed.

  • The Part That Encourages—or Flatters—the Ego : At its best, this part brings warmth, courage, creativity, and a bigger sense of possibility. But it can also tell us only what we want to hear. Its challenge is to support our confidence without feeding the need to perform, impress, or always be right.

  • The Ground We Have to Create for Ourselves: With so much happening in our thoughts, feelings, and reactions, it can be hard to feel steady. Grounding will not simply happen on its own; we have to build it through clear boundaries, realistic plans, enough rest, honest conversations, and small routines we can actually return to each day.

When the Headlines Mirror Our Inner Parts

When the Part That Wants to Prove Itself Takes Centre Stage:

  • In the United States, the Pentagon and the White House announced plans for a publicly livestreamed military firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan—the first military firing squad since 1945 and the first execution scheduled for public broadcast. It is a stark example of the Part That Wants to Prove Itself taking over: punishment becomes a public spectacle meant to project unquestionable power.

  • We see the same part at work in unilateral moves, such as the White House negotiating a direct 300,000-tonne Russian diesel deal with Vladimir Putin as fuel costs rise. Rather than working through shared diplomatic channels, the executive will pushes ahead on its own terms.

  • The USS Abraham Lincoln returning to port after an unprecedented 265 consecutive days at sea, amid severe supply bottlenecks, tells another side of the story: even a sustained show of strength eventually takes a very real physical toll.

When the Parts That Remember and Read Between the Lines Bring the Truth Forward:

  • Radio-Canada’s investigative program, Enquête, aired an exposé on human trafficking, predatory debt penalties, and the recruitment of minors behind luxury downtown escort agencies in Montreal. The investigation reported that corporate executives, judges, and active Montreal police officers were clients, exposing institutional complicity and prompting emergency suspensions. Here, the Part That Reads Between the Lines follows the evidence wherever it leads, while the Part That Remembers What Hurt refuses to accept arrangements built on exploitation and broken trust.

  • In Ukraine, the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy openly condemned the bilateral diesel transaction after fatal Russian missile strikes on civilian transit buses in Kramatorsk. His response reflects a refusal to treat trade as business as usual while the human cost remains unacknowledged.

  • Here, in Quebec, the Superior Court also authorized a class-action lawsuit against Nordik Spa Village involving 143 plaintiffs who allege years of failures to protect patrons from sexual assault. What had been minimized or left in the shadows is now being brought into the open.

When the Part That Stays on Guard Draws a Line:

  • The UN Human Rights Office warned that broadcasting executions violates international torture conventions, while appellate legal obstacles slowed unilateral decrees. In this case, the Part That Stays on Guard shows up through institutional safeguards meant to keep executive power from going too far.

  • At the Supreme Court of Canada, hearings on Quebec’s Bill 21 put the pre-emptive use of the Charter’s notwithstanding clause, minority rights, and provincial autonomy at the heart of a difficult national conversation about protection, power, and where boundaries should be drawn.

  • The Parti Québécois minority victory on October 5, 2026 brought the sovereignty question back into federal-provincial relations. Prime Minister Mark Carney described Canada as being at a “crucial conversation stage” about jurisdictional boundaries—a reminder that questions of belonging and autonomy cannot simply be pushed aside.

When the Wish for Peace Becomes a Commitment to Justice:

  • The Nobel Committee awarded the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize to South African jurist Navi Pillay for her lifelong defence of the international rules-based order.

When Life Reminds Us to Rebuild the Ground Beneath Us:

  • On October 9, 2026, a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck near La Pitaloza, Panama, prompting tsunami advisories across Pacific coastlines. At the same time, Canadian economic reports showed 68,000 jobs lost in September, especially in healthcare and education. Together, these events remind us how quickly the ground can shift—and why the stability we need must be rebuilt through practical choices, reliable support, and steady care.

From here, we can turn toward the sign-by-sign journey and consider where each of us is being asked to create that steadier ground in our own life.

The other shows the same person without costume or pose, standing simply and looking directly at their reflection. A child stands nearby, quietly noticing the difference. The Archetypal Journey for Each Sun or rising Sign in the month ahead of the New Moon in Libra

  • Aries: A new chapter begins across your partnership table, while your creative will flares with pride. Your shared financial and emotional commitments demand transparency. Love generously, without mistaking your partner’s boundaries for an attack on your autonomy.

  • Taurus: Renewal stirs in your everyday routines and physical health, while your will asserts itself within the private walls of home. Intimate partnerships demand unadorned honesty. Establish boundaries around your rest, and let tangible routines steady your nervous system.

  • Gemini: A creative spark awakens in your self-expression, while communication risks becoming performative debate. Deeper operational realities must be addressed at work. Create and speak from your core, without needing to win the room.

  • Cancer: The seed drops into your emotional foundations and family roots, while your drive focuses on financial defense and personal worth. Creative projects and romances call for vulnerability. Lower your defenses and allow someone you trust to offer genuine care.

  • Leo: A new chapter opens in your local conversations and learning, while your personal will sits front and center. Emotional reckoning is underway behind closed doors at home. Step off the stage in your personal life and share the unvarnished feelings beneath your bravado.

  • Virgo: A clean slate arrives in your personal values and finances, while private desires or unacknowledged restlessness stir beneath the surface. Speak with clarity and directness. Ask for what you are worth, refusing to settle for vague or unequal arrangements.

  • Libra: A personal rebirth lands in your identity, while your will seeks applause and standing among peers. Financial realities and deep values require a thorough review. Make one firm choice based purely on your own authentic needs, without waiting for consensus.

  • Scorpio: A quiet threshold invites spiritual closure and retreat, while your ambitions push hard for professional status. You carry the unvarnished truth directly in your presence. Release a long-held grievance that is consuming the energy you need for your future.

  • Sagittarius: A fresh vision takes shape around your community and long-term hopes, while your will defends sweeping ideas and philosophies. Unconscious debts and hidden feelings require accounting. Share a vulnerable dream with an ally who respects your humanity rather than your performance.

  • Capricorn: A new cycle begins in your career and public commitments, while battles for control can flare over shared resources or intimacy. Your wider circle reveals who is truly aligned with your integrity. Say yes only to commitments that align with your truth, letting cosmetic obligations fall away.

  • Aquarius: A horizon opens for higher learning and wider perspectives, while your will turns combative across the partnership table. Professional motives are exposed to the light. Set aside the need to dominate the narrative, and listen deeply to the sovereign voice across from you.

  • Pisces: A fresh start invites profound mutual trust and intimacy, while daily habits and workplace friction feel like a battleground. Examine what you truly believe about mutual respect. Share an unarmored truth with someone who has earned your respect.

When Our Inner Parts Work Against Each Other

In the month ahead, the harder side of this New Moon tends to show up in two familiar patterns:

1.       When the Part That Wants to Keep the Peace Takes Over:

We smile, agree, and smooth things over because we do not want to upset anyone. But underneath, we may be keeping score, swallowing our needs, and quietly building resentment. What looks like peace on the surface can later come out as distance, cold silence, or subtle attempts to regain control.

2.       When the Part That Wants to Prove Itself Takes Over:

When we lose touch with what we genuinely want or need, this part may try to compensate by becoming louder, more controlling, or more dramatic. It wants to run the show, treats disagreement as a personal rejection, and asks for reassurance without being willing to show the vulnerability underneath.

Helping These Parts Work Together

  1. Come Back to Your Own Centre: Before automatically agreeing or looking outside yourself for permission, pause and ask: What do I honestly want or need, beyond what will keep everyone else comfortable?

  2. Give the Part That Wants to Prove Itself a Better Job: Your strength does not have to be spent chasing attention, winning every exchange, or controlling the room. Let it protect your peace, support your integrity, and help you stand up for what truly matters.

  3. Let the Part That Reads Between the Lines Talk to the Part That Remembers What Hurt: Look honestly at what is happening, including the mixed messages and uncomfortable facts. At the same time, make room for the hurt underneath—without letting pain harden into bitterness, suspicion, or manipulation.

  4. Reassure the Part That Stays on Guard: You do not have to make yourself smaller to preserve a connection, and the other person should not have to shrink to make you feel safe. Healthy closeness becomes possible when two people can keep their boundaries, speak honestly, and still remain in relationship.

  5. Create the Ground You Need: Bring your intentions into everyday life. Check the budget, make the plan, protect time for rest, care for your body, and set limits you can actually honour. Small, steady actions give all these inner parts something solid to stand on.

A Psychosynthesis Practice: The Synthesis of Mars and Venus (Adapted from Piero Ferrucci)

The inner parts we have explored are not enemies; each is trying, in its own way, to protect something important. The difficulty begins when the Part That Wants to Keep the Peace silences our truth, while the Part That Wants to Prove Itself pushes harder to be seen or heard. Adapted from Piero Ferrucci’s psychosynthesis work with opposites, the following practice invites us to meet both energies consciously—not by choosing one over the other, but by discovering a steadier quality that can hold strength and tenderness together.

To reconcile the friction between our personal assertion (Mars) and our capacity for relational depth and trust (Venus), Piero Ferrucci’s technique of the Synthesis of Opposites from his book, What We May Be, offers a direct, experiential path:

  1. Step into the First Pole (Mars / The Will):

Sit quietly with your spine straight and your breath steady. Call to mind the part of you that embodies Mars in your life: your drive, your personal boundaries, your courage, and your need to assert your unique existence. Allow yourself to experience this power fully. Notice where it lives in your body—the heat, the upright posture, the readiness to act. If this energy had a symbol, an image, or a posture, see what forms in your mind's eye.

  1. Step into the Second Pole (Venus / The Heart):

Now, deliberately shift your focus to the opposite quality: your capacity to love, to feel deep emotional attachment, to listen, and to yield in trust. Experience this water element completely. Feel the softening in your chest, the quiet in your belly, and the longing for genuine, authentic union. Let a symbol or image arise for this receptive, loving depth.

  1. Hold the Tension of the Two:

Bring both images or sensations into your awareness at the very same time. Feel the energy of assertion and strength on one side, and the energy of receptivity and warmth on the other. Do not try to blend them into a weak compromise, and do not let one overpower the other. Simply hold the space between them as the conscious, observant center of your awareness. Notice the psychological tension that vibrates between strength and tenderness.

  1. Invite the Higher Synthesis:

Ask your deeper Self: What is the higher quality that unites both of these without destroying either?

Wait in the quiet for an answer—it may arrive as a third image, a sudden feeling of spaciousness, or a word such as Gracious Strength, Fearless Tenderness, or Loving Will.

  1. Anchor into the Body (The Earth Function):

Take this new synthesized quality and breathe it down into your feet, your bones, and your daily environment. Ask: What is one concrete, grounded action I can take today that expresses this synthesized presence?

A Familiar Story About Performing for Approval : The Emperor's New Clothes

There was once an emperor who cared more about the crowd’s approval than almost anything else. One day, two weavers arrived at his gates claiming they could make an extraordinary fabric. They said only wise and capable people would be able to see it; anyone foolish or unfit for their position would see nothing at all.

The emperor paid them a fortune. When his ministers went to inspect the looms, they found nothing but empty frames. Still, each one praised the beautiful fabric because no one wanted to look foolish, admit what they saw, or risk losing their position. When the emperor finally stood before the looms, his heart sank—he could not see anything either. But rather than expose his fear, he admired the imaginary patterns and agreed to wear the invisible clothes in the grand procession.

A child at the edge of a crowded street points toward an emperor walking in a public procession. The surrounding adults look uneasy or turn away, while the emperor continues forward despite realizing that the child has spoken the truth. The focus is on the child’s clear gesture and the contrast between simple honesty and the pressure to keep pretending. The style is warm, storybook-like, and reflective rather than dramatic.
“He isn’t wearing anything at all.” One simple, honest voice breaks through the performance. Image created with the assistance of Canva AI.

As the parade moved through the streets, the courtiers bowed and the crowd cheered. Everyone went along with the performance because no one wanted to be the first to admit what they could plainly see. Then a child at the edge of the crowd looked up and said, simply, “He isn’t wearing anything at all.”

For a moment, the entire crowd fell silent. The emperor felt the cold air against his bare skin and knew the child had spoken the truth. Yet he still could not bring himself to stop. He lifted his head, kept walking, and held on to the performance because admitting the truth felt even more frightening than being exposed.

This story reflects the central tension of this New Moon. When the Part That Wants to Keep the Peace is too afraid to name what is true, the Part That Wants to Prove Itself may step forward and perform even more loudly, hoping that admiration will quiet the doubt underneath. The way forward is not to make the performance more convincing. It is to listen for the simple, honest voice that can see what is really happening, say it clearly, and help all our inner parts return to something more authentic and grounded.
