Reclaiming the Territory of Your Life
__________________________________________________________________________________
Let’s look at where we are.
There is a specific kind of exhaustion that comes from maintaining a life that no longer fits. You might feel it as a short fuse with "good enough" situations—the job that pays the bills but numbs your mind, or the conversations where you’re just playing a role. That restlessness isn't a glitch; it’s your pulse.
The New Moon in Aries of April 17, 2026 may have hit hard. Instead of a gentle suggestion to "manifest your dreams," it may have felt more like an ultimatum. A look at the structures you’ve built, with a question left hanging in the air:
"Did you build this house, or are you just occupying a space shaped by someone else's expectations?"
At least, it may have felt that way and disguised by restlessness—a low hum under your skin that won’t quiet down. Or maybe it’s showing up as a strange impatience with things you used to tolerate just fine. The job that felt « secure enough. » The relationship that was « comfortable enough. » The story you’ve been telling yourself about who you are and what you’re allowed to want.
The old safety is suffocating. And somewhere underneath all the shoulds and the sensible choices, there’s a voice that refuses to settle for ordinary.
It’s not just you. And it’s not random.

The Celestial Picture: Tension and Timing
The astrology of this month is heavy on the element of fire and short on the element of earth which allows us to be grounded and realistic. Here is what that actually feels like:
A logjam of energy: Seven planets are crowded into Aries. It feels like high-pressure steam trapped in a pipe. You have the urge to act, to scream, or to quit everything tomorrow, but there’s nowhere for that energy to land just yet.
The cost of avoiding: The Sun and Moon are locked with Chiron. This is the "sore spot." The growth you’re looking for is hidden directly behind the thing you’re most embarrassed to admit or afraid to feel. You don't get the breakthrough without touching the bruise.
The friction of the "wait": Mars (action) is pinned down by Saturn (restraint). This is why you feel like you’re slamming on the gas and the brakes at the same time. This isn't "meant to be"—it’s a test of discipline. Can you hold the heat of your ambition without letting it turn into a reckless wildfire?
The final ege: Uranus is at the very last degree of Taurus. The "stable" things—your bank account, your routine, your sense of what is "safe"—are vibrating. The floorboards are giving way because they were never meant to support the person you’re becoming.
In depth psychological terms, the sky pits the function of sensation against imagination, intuition and impulse-desire. Moreover, with only Pluto, a planet associated to the transpersonal realm, in the element of Air, associated with the thinking function in psychological astrology, objectivity and detachment, the ability to organize and rationalize is weak.
According to Jungian psychology, when a psychological function goes "underground", it will tend to operate through the Shadow.
Here is what it looks like when Thinking goes "underground" (inferior) :
1. At an individual level: "Thinking" may be a weapon or a haze
When Thinking is the inferior function, it is no longer a cool, objective tool we use to solve problems. Instead, it becomes:
Obsessive and dogmatic: Because the "thinking" muscle is untrained, it tends to be all-or-nothing. You might find yourself stuck in a "thought loop," obsessing over a single idea or becoming strangely rigid about a specific belief. You don't have an idea; the idea has you.
The "secret" critic: Inferior thinking often shows up as a harsh, cold inner voice that judges your messy feelings (Water) or your impulsive actions (Fire). It’s the voice that says, "This is irrational," even as you're in the middle of a necessary emotional breakthrough.
A susceptibility to "logic-looking" lies: When we aren't using our conscious thinking, we become vulnerable to "pseudo-logic." We might latch onto a complex theory or a conspiracy because it feels like it explains our internal chaos, even if it doesn't hold up to real-world scrutiny.
2. At the collective level: the Shadow of Pluto in Aquarius
Pluto represents the "underworld" or the deep, hidden power. In Aquarius (an Air sign), Pluto is digging into the collective mind. With no other Air planets to balance it, the collective "Thinking" function can become primitive:
Ideology over humanity: The "Air" of Aquarius is about the group and the ideal. When this is inferior, we see the rise of "isms" and ideologies that ignore the actual human being standing in front of us. It’s the tendency to love "Humanity" as a concept while being cold and cruel to real people.
Technological totalitarianism: We may see a collective obsession with data, algorithms, and "rational" systems that actually stifle individual spirit. This is the shadow side of progress—where the system becomes more important than the soul.
Echo chambers as safety: In a chart dominated by Fire and Water, people are acting on instinct and emotion. Inferior Air causes the collective to huddle into groups where everyone thinks exactly the same way, using "logic" only to defend their own side and attack the "other."
3. The Invitation: the "Divine Fool"
Carl Jung often referred to the inferior function as the "Divine Fool." It is the unadapted, "ridiculous" part of us that actually connects us to the totality of our being.
With Pluto as the only Air planet, the invitation is to stop trying to be "smart" and start being "truthful."
Integrate the shadow thinking: Instead of trying to "figure it all out" with a stressed-out mind, look at the patterns of your life. Don't use your mind to escape your feelings; use your mind to give your feelings a container.
Observe the projection: If you find yourself deeply irritated by someone else’s "stupidity" or "irrationality" this month, pay attention. That is your own inferior Thinking reflecting back at you.
The slow work: You cannot "hurry" the inferior function. It is slow and clumsy. This New Moon asks you to be patient with the part of you that is still learning how to speak its truth clearly.
In this sky, the "Air" (Pluto) is the needle, and the "Fire/Water/Earth" (the rest of the planets) is the thread. You are being asked to sew a new story, but you have to be willing to let the "thinking" be secondary to the "being."
Here is a question for you : Where are you trying to use "logic" to avoid a truth that your body already knows?
A Deeper Layer : What Else Is Happening Beneath the Surface?
If you’re someone who senses there’s more going on—who feels the undercurrents even when you can’t name them—this section is for you. The table above gives you the map. But there are a few quieter dynamics woven through this New Moon that shape how the journey actually unfolds.
The Fire Has a Governor.
Mars, the ruler of Aries, is sitting right next to Saturn. This is a profound paradox : the planet of go is shoulder-to-shoulder with the planet of wait. The impulse to charge forward is real—but it’s being asked to move with intention, not impulse. If you feel frustrated, like you’re revving your engine but the wheels aren’t turning fast enough, there is nothing wrong with you. You’re being paced.
Saturn is the wise elder who knows that a fire that burns too hot too fast leaves nothing but ash. Let the urgency be tempered by structure. The seeds you plant now need time to root.
Your Mind Is Both Inspired and Unclear.
Mercury, the planet of thought and communication, is wrapped up with Neptune in Aries. This means your usual way of « figuring things out »—analysis, logic, talking it through—might not work the way it usually does. The mind is dreaming more than it’s calculating. You might feel unclear, uncertain, or even a little lost in the haze. This is not a malfunction. It’s an invitation to listen differently. The answers you need right now won’t come from more thinking. They’ll come through your body, your intuition, and the quiet voice that speaks in images and sensations rather than sentences.
There’s a Shadow Stirring Around Value and Power.
Lilith, the wild, untamed feminine, sits in Scorpio directly across from Venus in Taurus. This creates a quiet tension between what we say we value—stability, security, comfort—and what we secretly hunger for—depth, intensity, and the kind of truth that burns through pretense. This dynamic can show up as envy (yours or someone else’s), as a sudden awareness of where you’ve traded your power for safety, or as an uncomfortable reckoning with what you actually want versus what you’ve been told you should want. If you feel a strange charge around money, intimacy, or worth this week, you’re touching this current. The invitation is to get honest. Not to fix it—just to name it.
This New Moon Is Adjusting Something That Began Last Fall.
The Sun and Moon are making a subtle, uncomfortable angle to the eclipse point from September 2025. In plain terms : something that cracked open nine months ago is now demanding to be integrated. You might not have known at the time that a seed was being planted. But look back. Was there a rupture, a revelation, a quiet decision you made last autumn that set something in motion? That thread is resurfacing now. This New Moon is asking you to complete the arc—or at least to acknowledge that the arc exists and you’re still walking it.
The Collective Compass Points Toward Surrender.
The North Node—the collective evolutionary arrow—is in Pisces, the sign of dissolving boundaries, trusting the invisible, and letting go of the need to control the outcome. This is not the most comfortable direction for an Aries New Moon, which wants to act, decide, and conquer. But the deeper wisdom of this moment is that the most sovereign thing you can do right now is release. Release the old identity. Release the plan that no longer fits. Release the need to know exactly how this ends. The fire will still burn. But it burns cleaner when you stop gripping the reins so tightly.

Where the threshold sits for you
Sign | The Real Conflict | What’s at Stake | The Move |

Taurus | The rot in your "comfort zone." | Your integrity. | Stop choosing "predictable" over "alive." |
Gemini | Drowning in options to avoid a choice. | Your focus. | Pick a direction. Any direction. Just stop hovering. |
Cancer | Emotional debt from carrying others. | Your own vitality. | Draw a hard line. "No" is a complete sentence. |
Leo | The fatigue of being "on" for everyone. | Your sincerity. | Step out of the spotlight and find the silence. |
Virgo | Optimizing a life you don't even like. | Your time. | Stop "fixing" things and start doing what you love. |
Libra | The high cost of keeping the peace. | Your truth. | Say the thing that might upset the balance. |
Scorpio | The pressure of your own secrets. | Your power. | Bring the hidden thing into the light. Own it. |
Sagittarius | Following a map that’s out of date. | Your growth. | Anchor your big ideas into one physical act. |
Capricorn | Winning a game you no longer want to play. | Your soul. | Walk away from a "success" that feels like a chore. |
Aquarius | Wearing a mask of "detachment." | Your belonging. | Drop the cool act. Let yourself be messy and human. |
Pisces | Drifting to avoid the sharp edges of reality. | Your presence. | Build a boundary that protects your energy. |

Mars meets Saturn: The irresistible urge to run meeting the immovable wall of reality. If you feel the strain of "revving your engine" with the brakes on, know that the tension is tempering your soul for the work ahead. (Image source : Canva AI)
The Work: The Act of Separation
This New Moon isn’t just about "setting intentions" and waiting for the universe to provide. It’s about separation.
Aries is the first sign of the zodiac. It is the moment the seed cracks the shell. That cracking is violent, it’s difficult, and it’s necessary. You are being asked to separate yourself from the "we"—the family expectations, the cultural "shoulds," and the inherited fears—to find the "I."
The Practice
You don’t need a complicated ritual. You need something real.
Step 1 : Name the voice that dims your light.
Who or what in your life has been quietly (or loudly) telling you to stay small? This could be an actual person (a boss, a partner, a parent) or an inner voice (the critic, the « should, » the fear of being seen as « too much »).
Step 2 : Name the hunger.
Look at the table above. What’s the missing piece in your current life? Where do you feel the ache for something more? Name it. Write it down.
« I am hungry for ______. »
Step 3 : Feed the animal.
Not with more thinking. With ritual. With body. With pleasure. Go to the sauna. Walk in the woods. Cook something that takes time. Listen to music so loud you can’t hear your own thoughts. This is not indulgence—this is essential maintenance. You cannot cross the threshold on an empty tank.
Step 4 : Choose one defining act.
This New Moon asks for movement, not just intention. What is one concrete action you can take in the next 48 hours that declares : « This is my life. I am no longer living it for someone else. »
It doesn’t have to be big. It has to be yours.

A Final Word for Those Who Carry the Light Forward
You know who you are.
You’re the one who’s been doing the inner work while everyone else was scrolling. You’re the one who felt the restlessness years ago and started asking the hard questions. You’re the one who left the « safe enough » life—or is standing at the edge of it right now, heart pounding, wondering if you’re brave enough to leap.
This New Moon is your moment of recognition.
Not because you’re special in the way the world defines « special »—famous, wealthy, validated by the very structures that are crumbling. But because you’ve done the thing that actually matters : you’ve stopped being a passive participant in the family script. You’ve separated. You’ve claimed your own voice. And now you’re being asked to bring what you’ve learned back to the rest of us.
The world doesn’t need more noise. It needs people who have walked through the fire of their own unlived life and come out the other side with something real to offer.
You are that person.
The stone has been moved. You’re standing at the exit of the tomb of your old life.

And the question this New Moon in Aries is asking you—specifically you, reading this right now—is not « What do you want? »
It’s « What are you finally ready to become? »
